CHARLATAN FENG-SHUI
Autor: Katarzyna Devraj

Recently one of my clients gave me an article to read.

An article was written at the site of www.kobieta.pl by Bernadeta Hollender.

The article contained alarming advices by a feng shui master, that at times it seemed like advices of a charlatan. It was a very stressful but funny read, let me elaborate why.

The so called advices:

  1. you start consultation by throwing away the first bag of garbage

  2. old books should be discarded

  3. a pair of leopard figurines should be placed in the bedroom

  4. write letters to people who hurt you, than burn it and the ashes should be thrown away, best under running water or thrown to the river

Feng shui is not about house cleaning though the saying goes, cleanliness is next to godliness.

During the historical era of certain authoritarian and dictatorial regime were there any advices to get rid of books. That is not feng shui, its stupidity! Unless your books are full of fungus and filled with airborne bacteria that will cause you respiratory problems, should you discard books.

Feng shui is not about removing articles and objects that are dear to you; it is living in harmony with your surroundings, whatever those surroundings are.

In different stages of life, we acquire articles and objects according to our age and lifestyle. A bachelorettes taste of her immediate surroundings are very different of that of a home maker.

Now the issue of having figurines in the bedroom. Let me ask you this, would you for any reason invite leopards, lions or anything fearful into your bedroom??? Unless you have a deviant sexual lifestyle, forget the fact that you might end up being dinner…

A figurine is symbolic of that representation. If you were to do that, you would not only have nightmares, a very odd looking bedroom (unless you believe your mate to be Tarzan and you, Jane), restless nights and very horrible love life.

Have I made it clear? This is utter nonsense!

Exorcism is not feng shui also! Feng shui is a science!

Alternative science, as the modern era would call it.

I wonder what kind of charlatan feng shui master will offer exorcism. I am a catholic; I would go to a priest, a god fearing man, a man of cloth if I felt I needed exorcism because only God can overcome Satan, if you believe to be in this possessed state. A good psychiatrist is also recommended, not a feng shui master. This is like mixing oil and water.

Enough, I beg all would be consultants, get your facts straight, don’t offer services that are not in the frame of this respectable art. It is charlatans and oxymorons that have no inclination of what feng shui is that would have the audacity to make such ludicrous suggestions and have it called advices.

Feng Shui is a science that has yet to be included as a norm of life science. I am hopeful it will one day, then logic will prevail and articles of this sort would not have a mention in a respectable publication but in columns under humour and jest.
